Hydrogen gas (H2) is a therapeutic medical gas known for its multifunctional properties, including anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-cell death, and the stimulation of energy metabolism. This open-label pilot study on H2 treatment was conducted with the aim of developing a disease-modifying treatment for AD through multifactorial mechanisms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(2) Methods: Eight patients with AD inhaled 3% H2 gas for one hour twice daily for 6 months and were subsequently followed for 1 year without inhaling H2 gas. Clinical assessments were conducted using the Alzheimer&#8217;s Disease Assessment Scale-cognitive subscale (ADAS-cog). Neuron integrity was objectively assessed using diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) with advanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) applied to neuron bundles passing through the hippocampus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(3) Results: The mean individual ADAS-cog change exhibited significant improvement after 6 months of H2 treatment (-4.1) compared to untreated patients (+2.6). DTI assessment revealed that H2 treatment significantly enhanced the integrity of neurons passing through the hippocampus compared to the initial stage. The improvements observed through ADAS-cog and DTI assessments were maintained during the follow-up after 6 months (significantly) or 1 year (non-significantly).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(4) Conclusions: This study suggests that H2 treatment not only provides relief for temporary symptoms but also exerts disease-modifying effects, notwithstanding its limitations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(1) \u80cc\u666f\uff1a\u963f\u8332\u6d77\u9ed8\u75c7\uff08AD\uff09\u662f\u4e00\u7a2e\u6f38\u9032\u4e14\u81f4\u547d\u7684\u795e\u7d93\u9000\u884c\u6027\u75be\u75c5\u3002\u6c2b\u6c23\uff08H2\uff09\u662f\u4e00\u7a2e\u5177\u6709\u591a\u91cd\u529f\u80fd\u7684\u6cbb\u7642\u6027\u91ab\u7528\u6c23\u9ad4\uff0c\u5305\u62ec\u6297\u6c27\u5316\u3001\u6297\u767c\u708e\u3001\u6297\u7d30\u80de\u6b7b\u4ea1\u548c\u4fc3\u9032\u80fd\u91cf\u4ee3\u8b1d\u7b49\u3002\u70ba\u4e86\u901a\u904e\u591a\u56e0\u7d20\u6a5f\u5236\u958b\u767cAD\u7684\u75be\u75c5\u4fee\u98fe\u6027\u6cbb\u7642\uff0c\u9032\u884c\u4e86\u4e00\u9805\u6709\u95dcH2\u6cbb\u7642\u7684\u958b\u653e\u6a19\u7c64\u8a66\u9a57\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(2) \u65b9\u6cd5\uff1a\u516b\u540dAD\u60a3\u8005\u6bcf\u5929\u5438\u51653%\u7684H2\u6c23\u9ad4\uff0c\u6bcf\u6b21\u4e00\u5c0f\u6642\uff0c\u70ba\u671f6\u500b\u6708\uff0c\u7136\u5f8c\u5728\u672a\u5438\u5165H2\u6c23\u9ad4\u7684\u60c5\u6cc1\u4e0b\u9032\u884c1\u5e74\u7684\u96a8\u8a2a\u3002\u4f7f\u7528\u963f\u8332\u6d77\u9ed8\u75c7\u8a55\u4f30\u91cf\u8868-\u8a8d\u77e5\u4e9e\u91cf\u8868\uff08ADAS-cog\uff09\u5c0d\u60a3\u8005\u9032\u884c\u81e8\u5e8a\u8a55\u4f30\u3002\u70ba\u4e86\u5ba2\u89c0\u8a55\u4f30\u795e\u7d93\u5143\u5b8c\u6574\u6027\uff0c\u61c9\u7528\u4e86\u64c1\u6709\u901a\u904e\u6d77\u99ac\u5340\u7684\u795e\u7d93\u5143\u675f\u7684\u5148\u9032\u78c1\u5171\u632f\u64f4\u6563\u5f35\u91cf\u6210\u50cf\uff08DTI\uff09\u6280\u8853\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(3) \u7d50\u679c\uff1a\u5e73\u5747\u500b\u9ad4ADAS-cog\u8b8a\u5316\u5728H2\u6cbb\u7642\u5f8c6\u500b\u6708\u986f\u8457\u6539\u5584\uff08-4.1\uff09\uff0c\u76f8\u8f03\u65bc\u672a\u6cbb\u7642\u7684\u60a3\u8005\uff08+2.6\uff09\u3002\u6839\u64daDTI\u8a55\u4f30\uff0cH2\u6cbb\u7642\u986f\u8457\u6539\u5584\u4e86\u901a\u904e\u6d77\u99ac\u5340\u7684\u795e\u7d93\u5143\u7684\u5b8c\u6574\u6027\uff0c\u76f8\u5c0d\u65bc\u521d\u59cb\u968e\u6bb5\u3002\u901a\u904eADAS-cog\u548cDTI\u8a55\u4f30\u89c0\u5bdf\u5230\u7684\u6539\u5584\u57286\u500b\u6708\u5f8c\uff08\u986f\u8457\uff09\u62161\u5e74\u5f8c\uff08\u975e\u986f\u8457\uff09\u7684\u96a8\u8a2a\u671f\u9593\u5f97\u4ee5\u4fdd\u6301\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(4) \u7d50\u8ad6\uff1a\u672c\u7814\u7a76\u8868\u660e\uff0c\u5118\u7ba1\u5b58\u5728\u9650\u5236\uff0cH2\u6cbb\u7642\u4e0d\u50c5\u7de9\u89e3\u4e86\u66ab\u6642\u7684\u75c7\u72c0\uff0c\u9084\u5177\u6709\u75be\u75c5\u4fee\u98fe\u6027\u6548<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Link to original article:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC10057981\/#:~:text=In%20addition%2C%20clinical%20studies%20suggest,risk%20of%20AD%20%5B15%5D\" title=\"\">https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC10057981\/#:~:text=In%20addition%2C%20clinical%20studies%20suggest,risk%20of%20AD%20%5B15%5D<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NIH Library of Medicine PubMed Central Journal List&nbsp; Pharmaceuticals (Basel)&nbsp; PMC10057981 (1) Background: Alzheimer&#8217;s disease (AD) is a progressive and fatal neurodegenerative disorder.
