However, there is limited discussion on the current application of hydrogen therapy in liver diseases. This article presents the administration of hydrogen and the mechanisms involved in in vivo hydrogen therapy. It covers aspects such as the modulation of reactive oxygen species, apoptosis, autophagy, inflammation, impact on mitochondria, and the role of protein transporters. The primary emphasis is on the clinical use of hydrogen and its associated mechanisms in liver dysfunction or diseases, including non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, hepatitis B, liver dysfunction resulting from liver tumors, and colorectal tumor chemotherapy. Additionally, the article explores the application of hydrogen ex vivo for liver protection.
