This article provides an overview of recent preclinical research utilizing hydrogen administration, in either gaseous or liquid form, as a therapeutic approach for neurological conditions such as traumatic brain injury (TBI), surgically induced brain injury (SBI), stroke, and neonatal hypoxic-ischemic brain insult (HI). The majority of the reviewed studies showed neuroprotective benefits associated with hydrogen treatment. While some studies have highlighted its antioxidant properties, additional research is needed to fully understand the comprehensive neuroprotective mechanisms of hydrogen therapy. Hydrogen has the potential to be used as a supplementary treatment for neurological disorders.
